Prezidento rūmai

XIV amžiuje pirmasis Vilniaus vyskupas Andrius Vasila pastatė rūmus, kuriuos vėliau puošė, perstatinėjo ir plėtė jau kiti šeimininkai. XVIII amžiuje kai kuriuos rūmų ansamblio rekonstravimo darbus yra atlikęs architektas L. Stuoka-Gucevičius. XVII-XVIII amžiais rūmai degė, buvo niokojami per karus ar suirutes. Lietuvai patekus į Rusijos sudėtį, Vyskupų rūmų ansamblis tapo laikina rusų imperatoriaus, kunigaikščių ir kitų didikų buveine. Ano meto puošniausiuose ir solidžiausiuose rūmuose gyveno caras Pavelas I, viešėjo būsimasis Prancūzijos karalius Liudvikas XVIII ir prancūzų imperatorius Napoleonas. XIX amžiuje rūmai tapo oficialia Rusijos generalgubernatoriaus buveine. Ten gyveno M. Muravjovas, Lietuvos generalgubernatoriumi du kartus buvęs generolas Michailas Kutuzovas. 1824-1832 metais rūmai pagal garsaus Sankt Peterburgo dvaro architekto V. Stasovo projektą buvo perstatyti ir įgavo dabartinį pavidalą. 1920 metais, prieš Lenkijai užimant Vilniaus kraštą, rūmuose buvo įkurdinta Lietuvos užsienio reikalų ministerija. Vėliau, tarpukario laikotarpiu, rūmai vėlgi buvo naudojami reprezentacijai. Juose yra gyvenęs Lenkijos maršalas Juzefas Pilsudskis. Po karo rūmai tapo sovietų armijos Karininkų namais. Septintajame dešimtmetyje čia įsikūrė Menininkų rūmai. Atkūrus Nepriklausomybę, dalį patalpų kurį laiką užėmė Prancūzijos ambasada. 1995-ųjų pabaigoje rūmai pradėti restauruoti. 1997 metais ten įsikūrė tuometinis Respublikos Prezidentas.
