Sakiai

Sakiai – is the city in southwestern Lithuania, Marijampole district, 65 km to west from Kaunas and about 50 km to north of Marijampole, in the lowland of Sesupe. The town is located across a tributary of Sesups Siesartis. There are 6 377 (2010) residents. It is an urban monument (radial plan with square square). Sakiai is known as the capital of zanavykai. In the middle of town stagnants the pound of Sakiai on the west shore of wich stands St. John the Baptist church. In the city west - there is Sakiai evangelical Lutheran church, in the east - Zanavykai land museum, cemetery, the poun of Girenai. There is a city park.
