The Church of St. Peter and Paul in New Zagare

The church of St. Peter and Paul was built by the Polish Duke Zigmantas Vaza in the beginning of 17th century. In 1805 it was burnt down and later rebuilt by the count Zubovas, local parishioners and a priest. The church was built from stones, bricks, dolomite and plaster. The central altar is in baroque style with 8 columns. The columns are made from wood and plaster and they are decorated with gold. The church has an organ and choir balcony.
In the churchyard, to the south of the church, there is a chapel-monument which was built in the 20th century.
