Anyksciai
Anyksciai – is the city of north-eastern Lithuania, Utena district, 33 km to west of Utena, in the ridge of Anyksciai (95-112 m above sea level). It is urban monument. Population is (2010) 11 620. The city is at the Sventoji and Anyksta rivers confluence. Sventoji in Anyksciai flows through the north-east to south-west in the city center it is ponded. It is the resort area. In Anyksciai there is located viensėdis there is silica sand deposit. Guests of Anyksciai and Anyksciai residents time and again noted that the city with spacious surroundings contains regular geographic, agriculture and cultural unit, called Anyksciai edge. People lived here even in 11 thousand BC. The glorious Middle Ages, the power of the State of Lithuania dates back 20 mounds. The most famous, is the greatest Voruta mound, where in the thirteenth century stood Mindaugas, the creator of the State castle. Now every year on the mound Coronation Day of Mindaugas - July 6 th, there is celebrated a festival. Anyksciai people believe in the magical their land power to awaken the creative mind and to inspire the talent of children of this land. Anyksciai region destroys the image of Lithuanian plains. For more kilometers from the town 968 hectares Rubikiai’ lake with 16 islands is in the same height above the sea as the church towers crosses. To the lakeside resorts from Anyksciai runs the narrow train - one of the most exciting technological wonders of Lithuanian.
