The Ceramics Museum

The museum was opened in 1978 at the quarters in the Kaunas City Hall basements.

EXPOSITIONS:

The old Kaunas ceramics of the 15th to 19th centuries

The archaeological ceramics collection is composed of the findings made in the Old Town of Kaunas and its surroundings in from 1968 to 1997: dishes made for different purposes, ornate renaissance and baroque stove tiles, ornamental stove parts and roof tiles of impressive sizes.

Modern Lithuanian ceramics

Presents works by Lithuanian ceramic artists dating from the interwar period to the present. The exhibits perfectly reflect the path of ceramic art in Lithuania.
Here you will find creations by the Lithuanian professional ceramic art masters: Liudvikas Strolis, Vaclovas Miknevičius, Jonas Mikėnas, Valdemaras Manomaitis, Birutė Elizabeta Zygmantaitė. The exhibition is also enriched by the work of masters of modern porcelain – Liucija Šulgaitė, Aldona Višinskienė, Irena Petravičienė, and Aldona Keturakienė.
The museum hosts Lithuanian and international ceramicists’ exhibitions.
