Birstonas

Birstonas – is a resort town in southern Lithuania, in Kaunas district. It is the center of Birstonas municipality and the center of parish. There are 3 136 (2010) residents, and the area is 13 km².

This is balneological and mud therapy resort, there is extracted mineral waters “Vytautas”, “The Fountain”, “Danuta”, “Priestess” and others). In the town stands Birstonas St. Anthony of Padua church (built 1909) stands Vytautas hill (85 meters), Vytautas monument Hill of Song. To this day, there is working the oldest Birstonas mineral water bottling company in Lithuania, it was established in 1924, when it was more fashionable to sip mineral water "Vytautas" or "Birute". 82 percent of Birstonas municipality is in the Nemunas loops regional park. The total area of the municipality is - 124 square km. Birstonas city area - 13 square km. The municipality consists of Birstonas town and Birstonas parish.
