Rietavas – is the city in Zemaitija lowlands, Telsiai district, 25 km to south of Plunge. Situated in the eastern highlands and in teh east of Zemaiciai upland and Endriejavas ridge west. It is Rietavas municipal center. Population is 3 824 (2010). There is Rietavas St. Michael the Archangel church (built in 1873), Oginskiai estate. Theer is running Oginskiai cultural history museum. Around the city lies Rietavas forests, nine km to the north-west of the Rietavas drains Jura (river). Rietavas is famous for it's market.
